Luminette Shade With PowerView In Robson Ranch

Recently we were fortunate enough to help a customer from Robson Ranch just off Highway 35W. It is a wonderful community for folks 55 and older. They have a couple of golf courses and have just about every activity you can imagine. Our client stopped by the Southlake store because they were moving in soon and needed ideas for their windows. Jeff met with them at their new home and listened to their thoughts. They live on one of the new golf courses that will be completed in 10 months, so they have a fantastic view and don't want to lose it. The dining room gets the most sun, but at different times of the day and the family room looks out onto the covered patio without much sun. Jeff suggested just using stationary drapery panels in the family room to frame the windows and add a pop of color while keeping the natural light and views. He selected a fabric from Fabricut that would coordinate with pillows that would go on their sectional sofa.

For the large sliding door in the dining room, he showed them the Luminette from Hunter Douglas in the Radiant White color. Needless to say, our client fell in love! These modern vertical shades offer ultimate light control with vanes that move left and right to deflect the suns rays. This shade was the perfect solution for style and function.

For the 3 back windows in the dining room we selected Designer Roller Shades in an Organic White. We made 3 custom cornice board window treatments using a very colorful fabric from Kravet. This gave the windows a finished look and when the shades go up they disappear beneath them. This paired wonderfully with the Luminette. The best part was that we used PowerView Motorization for both the Roller Shades and the Luminette and included the hub for the whole home automation function.

A Southlake, Texas Shutter Installation - Lighting Up A Room With Style And Quality

We recently helped a customer in Southlake who had stopped by our Hunter Douglas Gallery. She knew she wanted shutters in her new family room and kitchen because these rooms face west. We showed her Hunter Douglas NewStyle shutters and she loved the quality and feel of the shutter as well as the ease of cleaning. They are at a great price point too! We then made an appointment for an in home consultation and measure. We suggested that we use the 4 1/2" louver size because of how it opens up the room to the outside. We used the Bright White color because of the perfect match to the window sills. 

The shutters were installed a few weeks later and they not only looked beautiful, they also helped with the client's energy efficiency, solar heat control and UV protection. The Hunter Douglas NewStyle Shutters were a perfect solution for these rooms. A few weeks later we were back adding shutters in her Master Bedroom and Bath. The Master Bath was my favorite. I love this look!

NewStyle Shutters In Frisco, Texas

For this client in Frisco, Texas we installed Hunter Douglas NewStyle Shutters throughout her new Shaddock Home. These shutters are custom crafted for each window. We used the standard Z frame and they all looked beautiful. Our client was happy with the high quality standards and the feeling of comfort that the home now has. We used 4 1/2" louvers to eccentuate the large windows and give the most view through to the outside. We added a divider rail so the bottom portion and top portion can operate independently providing privacy when needed and maximum light control up top. The front tilt rods gave the traditional shutter look that the client loved and makes her new house feel like home.

As you know, the Pirouette Shade by Hunter Douglas is one of our favorite products because of its versatility and beauty. It is a shade that can be used for nearly every window with so many fabrics, colors, textures and lift systems. We get excited when we can show customers this truly unique shade.

Pirouettes for a Prosper Home

A couple from Prosper, Texas recently stopped by our Plano Hunter Douglas Gallery. They were in the process of getting new windows in their breakfast room and kitchen and were needing new window treatments. Their first thought was just to replace the roman shades with something new. So we showed them all of the displays and explained to them the features and benefits of Hunter Douglas products. We then made an appointment for an In‐home consultation.

We were given a tour of the couple’s home and they showed us the rooms where they were getting new windows. The breakfast room and kitchen were their first project. These windows face the back yard where there is a beautiful swimming pool and beyond that a small lake. The couple loves to sit here in the morning and enjoy this view. But in the afternoon they do get a lot of sun streaming in. Hunter Douglas’ Pirouette was the Perfect Solution. This shade is what we call a Roman Shade with a view. It can be opened for complete view, closed for complete privacy , or you can open the vanes to give a soft view while still protecting from UV rays and glare.

What are Pirouette Shadings?

Pirouettes from Hunter Douglas are window shadings that give you the function of a window treatment with beautiful style you won’t find with a regular shade. Pirouettes feature soft adjustable horizontal fabric vanes attached to a single sheer backing to control light in an innovative way. Fresh Ideas For Your Home - Entry Hall

A beautiful entry hall will impact how visitors perceive your home.

This important room can introduce drama and beauty to your guests. After visitors walk in your front door, the entry hall (or foyer) is the first feeling they get about your home. Make sure it’s a good first impression by focusing on this small, but oh so important, part of your house! 

Since the entry hall is a small space you can afford to be extravagant and add drama. Consider these ideas:

• Use bold and rich colors or striking black and white.
• Add mirrors to make the room appear larger.
• Explore the idea of shiny, lacquer or faux finish walls.
• Accent with a touch of metallic finishes, including gold, silver, bronze or copper.
• Install a front door that looks distinctive even from the inside.
• Purchase a dramatic light fixture or lamp.

It’s nice to include a table and at least one chair or bench where people can stop to put on their shoes, but too much furniture will collect junk on a daily basis. A coat rack or umbrella rack can add welcome functionality. Also take time to select artwork, rugs and light fixtures. When selecting colors for your foyer, think about coordination with the rooms you can see from your entry hall, probably your living room and maybe your dining room.

Designer Roller Shades - A Great Solution

Once again it seems our favorite window treatments for 2016 are Designer Roller Shades and Designer Screen Shades from Hunter Douglas. I do think the reason for this is the fact that they are so versatile. Designer Roller Shades are a perfect solution for many homes - contemporary to traditional and anywhere in between. With so many fabrics, colors and textures to choose from, they will not only enhance your windows, but will help insulate your home keeping it warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Roller Shades at the Lake

Recently one of our loyal clients stopped by the showroom and asked us to help her cover the windows on her new lake house at Cedar Creek Lake just South East of Dallas. They have a beautiful home on deep water and their view is outstanding. Her home has a traditional feel outside, however the interior is more contemporary. Designer Roller Shades by Hunter Douglas were the perfect solution because it correlated with both interior and exterior styles. Because the home is open concept, we used the same shades for all the windows. We selected the fabric Pure Earth in the Arbor color because it picked up all the neutral colors in the home. We also opted for the PowerView Motorization Lift System with the Hub to allow her to control the shades from her iPhone - whether she is there or not. With the Hub you can set the scene and program exactly where you want the shades to stop. As you can see they look beautiful.

Drapery Panels Added to Designer Screen Shades

We recently helped a client in North Dallas update her Ranch Style Home. She wanted the look to be more transitional and with her furniture, that was easy to do. We picked up the old carpet and put in a light wood floor and painted the walls a neutral tan. Now for her windows we used Designer Screen Shades by Hunter Douglas called Umbria with a 3% opacity. With this shade, we were able to give them the amount of privacy they desired while still allowing them to view the outdoors. We used the Custom Clutch lift system because we knew we could hide it behind the drapery panels. For the curtains, we used a neutral silk Dupioni from the Kravet Couture line of fabrics in a fawn color and installed them floor to ceiling to give the room some height. We are very pleased with the finished room.

Screen Shades in Broken Bow, Oklahoma

Last weekend we traveled up to the beautiful area of Broken Bow, Oklahoma to install some Designer Screen Shades from Hunter Douglas. In this cabin in the woods, privacy is not the issue. In fact, this client said they wouldn't have covered the windows at all if the sun didn't shine through and make the room very hot. Screen shades were the only solution! We kept the stunning view of the forest while protecting the interiors from harmful UV rays and keeping the room nice and cool in the summer. Now they can sit and watch the wildlife roam around.
